Actions To Boost Your Self-Confidence

Meaning of Confidence

Confidence means feeling sure of yourself and your abilities — is a feeling of certainty, trust in one’s abilities, qualities and judgement. Confidence isn’t about feeling superior to others. It is a quiet inner knowledge that you’re capable of doing something.

Being confident is must to realize your aims. You need to organize all your inner strength to be able to confidently move towards your goals. Moreover, Confidence is not achieved overnight. It can be achieved by learning from mistakes and experiences.

“Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” – E.E. Cummings

 Actions To Boost Your Self-Confidence

• Self – Belief

Live life like you want to. Not how people want you to. You are your own person. No matter how hard you try to be someone else, it doesn’t work… be yourself and that will!
No one else is you, you are who you are.

• Dress Nicely

Marc Jacobs once said and I quote “clothing is a form of self-expression — there are hints about who you are in what you wear.”

Being well dressed is a beautiful form of politeness. Don’t dress to impress, just be the best unlike the rest.

• Think Positive

Think positive, because thoughts are like the steering wheel that moves our life in the right direction. Note that, you won’t have a positive life, if you have a negative mind, try to change your perspective. However, once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.

• Embrace your imperfections

Nobody has ever been perfect and nobody ever will be. Embrace your imperfections because it brings out how unique you are truly are, don’t hide it and don’t feel shy about unearthing your true identity. Be bold and confident all through your struggles.

“But life isn’t something that should be edited. Life shouldn’t be cut. The only way you’ll ever discover what it truly means to be alive and human is by sharing the full experience of what it means to be human and each blemish and freckle that comes with it.” – Iain Thomas

• Stop Comparing yourself to Others

We often lose our way when we compare ourselves to others. We lose our inspiration, motivation and that ambitious drive. Compare yourself to no – one, not a single person. You are unique and what makes you perfectly different is what sets you aside to crush those dreams.

Note this, when you notice you are drawing comparisons, remind yourself that doing so isn’t helpful. Everyone is running their own race and life isn’t a competition.

• Stay Away From Negative People

Avoid negative people for they are the greatest destroyers of self confidence and self-esteem.
The less you respond to negative people, the more peaceful your life becomes.

• Practice Appreciation

My life is not nearly as perfect as I would like it to be but being blessed makes it appear that way. I have my good days, also my bad days, and my weary days, but I thank god for letting me get past those and become stronger.
You have to salute the past and give thanks for the lessons and experience it gave. Welcome the future and be ready for new challenges.

“See the good in your life and start appreciating it.”

• Be Persistent

A Philosopher once said, “Always aspire to acquire the desire in which you aspire, don’t retire even if you pass through the fire, rather refire in order to acquire the desire in which you aspire in life.”

It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down. All that matters is you get up one more time than you were knocked down.
Be persistence, only the strong can live life.

• Get Active

The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them.
If you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it”

• Face your Fears

Practice facing some of your fears that stem from a lack of self-confidence. If you’re afraid you’ll embarrass yourself or you think that you’re going to mess up, try it anyway. Tell yourself it’s just an experiment and see what happens.

You might learn that being a little anxious or making a few mistakes isn’t as bad as you thought. And each time you move forward, you can gain more confidence in yourself, which in the end, will help prevent you from taking any risks that will result in any major negative consequences.

When you face your fears and try difficult things, you’ll gain confidence in yourself.

• Stop Procrastinating

There are many qualities that can help you accomplish unimaginable feats but just one to render them completely useless, which is called ‘Procrastination’

The really happy people are those who have broken the chains of procrastination, those who find satisfaction in doing the job at hand. They’re full of eagerness, zest, productivity. You can be too.

“Time is an equal opportunity employer. Each human being has exactly the same number of hours and minutes every day. Rich people can’t buy more hours. Scientists can’t invent new minutes. And you can’t save time to spend it on another day. Even so, time is amazingly fair and forgiving. No matter how much time you’ve wasted in the past, you still have an entire tomorrow.” – Denis Waitley
